I’ve had an interest in Freemasonry for a while now, and have some friends that are members in the boston area. Recently I posted a comment about alister crowley and the inception of Thelemaism, the OTO and the Illuminati and thier connection to L Ron Hubbards intrest in founding his religion. I seem to have offended my friends. I find so many theroies online that I’m confused by. I would really like to find out more about the order and how my intrest in these subjects might have offended my friends.

my suggestion if you would like to know more about our order is to try looking up your local grand lodge there is
a wealth of info there.people sometimes have alot of misconceptions about freemasonry and its connections to this that or the other.i my self being a mastermason have learned to just listen to peoples opnions. and make my own conclusion as to what they are saying. dont let them discorage you from doing what you feel that you want to do with
your life. if you think you have offened them then i guess they are not that good of a freind. this is just my observation on what you have written here. so i hope some of this helps you please come back here if you have more questions im sure other brothers will help you .

Sorry you had that experience.  You have to remember that as Masons we get all sorts of crazy accusations about involvement with crazy conspiracy theories.  For some guys it becomes tiring having to constantly defend against this, and that is probably the reason they seemed “offended”.  Furthermore, although they know that these stories are false, they really don’t have the proof to be able to explain it, which only further frustrates some members.

Fortunately you’ve found this site and can now get all the answers you want.  We’ll try our best not to get offended ;)
