Good morning, brothers!

Last night was a very very special night for me…  I was raised a Master Mason at Tuckahoe Lodge #347 in Richmond, Virginia!

What an unbelievable experience! It was so special and so moving that I will never ever forget it for as long as I live.  For the EA’s and FC’s on this board:  Being raised a MM is the pinnacle of Freemasonry.  The brothers of the lodge go all out, and the whole night is about YOU.

Congrats Butch, I am just a little over 2 weeks away myself. I havent been thinking too much about it just to keep the nerves down (not scared nerves, more along the lines of anxious)... BUT I am excited.
But anyways, I am glad for you…you are the first of out 2010 class to be raised right???

Thanks guys…  :-)

The whole night was very long but very memorable.  The MM degree is the longest of the three, due to everything that has to take place.  Just a little heads-up as it was explained to me:  You absolutely have to relax and just let things happen as they will.  As you remember before… there is, nor will there ever be, any harm done to you.  Being raised a MM is the ultimate experience!

Congratulations, Bro. Butch! I’m really glad for you. The sublime degree of Master Mason is truly the pinnacle of Freemasonry. It’s been said many times on this board, but you really can’t appreciate it until you experience it.

Like the EA, the degree is so long, and so involved, and so different from anything you have experienced before, that it leaves you stunned when it finishes. As you see it again and again, you appreciate it more, as you have liesure to see and hear the finer points that you can’t appreciate first time. One of the fine points is how the three degrees progress in imparting knowledge. The EA gives you the basics of Masonry, as they would have been taught to a teenage apprentice in the days of Operative Masonry; the FC expands this to impart what is needed by a man who has reached maturity and is beginning his adult life; the MM makes a quantum leap to instill in you what you need to make your entire life what your Creator intended, and to inspire you to realize the greatness that is in you, and to lift up a corner of the veil between us and immortality.

Everything that goes before, in the first two degrees, leads gradually but inexorably to its culmination in the MM degree; nothing that follows it can eclipse or diminish it. But new insights into all three of the Lodge degrees can be obtained in the appendent degrees. I hope that when you are ready, you will be motivated to seek additional light, and I’m sure you will enjoy it. It also provides expanded opportunities for brotherhood and fellowship, as you join with brothers from other lodges, and the possibility of joining in their work.

So, Bro. Butch, as Dean of the 2010 Class, you and I and all the other Brothers who have been faithfully following the progress of this most distinguished group can now await further joyous news from Steve, Martin and John as they join us as equal brothers. I can hardly wait!

I am extremely anxious to start my journey! As it appears and if luck be my friend, I will be the junior man of this fine clan. Cheers!

Best wishes…but dont call me John ( a slight play on the line from the movie Airplane…“Dont call me Shirley…”)...LOL….Good things come to those who wait. Next thing you know, you will be letting us know you have been scheduled for your EA.

After its all said an done, it wont seem like such a long wait. But definately worth the wait.

Congratulations on being raised to the Sublime Degree of a MM. I was also raised last night myself at Ancient York in MA. trust me, you can research about this degree and read books but the experience is what its all about. I did not know what to expect but after experiencing this step and all the fellow brethren involved, it made me feel a part of something great. I wish you all well on your journey and look forward to meeting someday.

Sincerly,
Bro. Matt

I add my congratulations. The MM is not the end. Only the beginning! You will now journey with all true brothers. Maybe you will go on to serve Freemasonry as an officer of your lodge. Many of the appendant bodies may wish to have you participate in their fine activities.

May God hold you in the hollow of His hand!

Bro. Matt, congratulations and best wishes to you. I hope you’ll become another member of this vibrant community of new Masons.

John—-  At last!!!!  Great news!  If your lodge works fast enough and/or meets often enough, you should be an EA, and maybe even a FC, before summer recess.  Keep us posted on how its going.

It’s been a great journey so far. The best is yet to come for me. I’m currently a FC with my MM scheduled for June 16. I look forward to signing the petitions of my soon to be 18 twins sons in September and my 20 yr old son when he returns from Iraq. I’m just glad that aren’t waiting as long as I did.
