The “academics?” question is important. Research and History go hand in hand. Masons pride themselves on the preservation of archives. In many lodges, an individual is given the task of preserving the records and archives for future use. Interestingly, The Massachusetts Grand Lodge maintains one of the worlds largest librarys on Masonic subjects. I believe London, England may have the largest. Members of Lodges come from all walks of life, as history shows many intellectuals’ names appear on masonic rosters. I personally associate with university professors as masons. Hope this helps- Ron Doucette.
