Not being a mason myself, but interested in it i see many posts and questions about secrets.
My take on this is a simple one : the mass media that states that masons are a secret society, or a satanic cult or any such combination of the two are ridiculus at best.

When considering what is stated by anyone or any informational source - consider the source.
Think about who and what is making the statments and why. It will help you find truth.

My knowledge of masonry is sparse at best, but i do know that all the masons i have so far had any contact with have been men of respect and good character. I work with several and find them
helpful and enjoyable to speak with. Where is the secret in that? None that i can see. They take pride in being a mason.

What i do not understand is why things such as ” cult ” are attributed to free masons in statments made about.

When something is not known about or understood, why is it ridiculed? or put down? It is a human trait i find disapointing and rather sad.

If you do not understand or know about something, learn about it or ask some questions before
casting aspersions.

Why are statments such as these made about free masons??

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thank You

John

John in Gardner, Ma.

You as well as we recognize an issue that goes back centuries and then enters back to the Middle Ages. So, if we try to answer a question as this on any Forum, we’d run out of room.
I suggest that you take some time and then take advantage of the Statewide Masonic OpenHouse on the Sat. March, 27th, 2010 from 9am-3pm in your town, as follows:

They will inform you of the process, the facts, and answer your questions.

Simply put, ill-informed individuals speak of things they know nothing of.  The internet can be a good tool for many things, but can also be a detriment, as well.  Do your own research on Freemasonry, but don’t believe everything you see.  Many who post anti-masonic information on the internet have their own personal agenda or have an ‘axe to grind’, for whatever reason.

Freemasonry makes good men, better.  It’s as simple as that.
