Hi,

To determine whether a relative might have been a Mason, you will need to contact the Grand Lodge that presided over the jurisdiction that your relative might have joined, or where he lived.  Grand Lodges keep records of their members and they should be able to help.  The more information you can provide, the better the possibility they can make a positive match.  The town/city your relative may have lived in, an approximate birth date, death, etc.

I hope this helps.

I am trying to find out more info about my father’s membership in freemasons.  It was in Tooele, Utah in the 1960’s and early 70’s and may have preceded that in Washington state.  My father is deceased.  My son is extremely interested in this as he would like to become a mason (as would I).  I have contacted the Tooele branch and a grand lodge in Salt Lake City via e-mail (Provided in web-sites) and they were both returned (invalid address and undeliverable).  My father was Scottish, and extremely proud of his lineage.  Can you please advise my next course of action?  Thank you for your assistance and attention.

Sincerely,

Tina (Chisholm) Nicholls

My Grandfather was the builder of a Masonic Temple in Cranford, NJ and would like to meet someone that may know of him.  I have his sword with his name on it and only put the two together this week asking my father.  Is there some one here that could help me?

I Thank You,

Storm

Hi,

AskaFreemason/LIVE was developed by the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.  The best resource for the information you need is the Grand Lodge of New Jersey, http://www.njfreemasonry.org.  Mr. Larry S. Plasket is their Grand Secretary and a good resource.  He can be reached at , or 609.239.3950.  Do not hesitate to contact them.  I know they will welcome your inquiry.

Hi, Tina-

It doesn’t appear your question had been addressed, and I wanted to ensure you received some information to help you with your research.  I know you indicated that your tried emailing the Grand Lodge of Utah and your message was returned.  I wanted to share with you the information I have: Robert McKenzie is their Grand Secretary and the person I suggest you start with.  His email address is: .  If that doesn’t work, you might want to try calling at 801.363.2936, or writing, 650 E. Temple St. SLC, UT 84102. Good luck.
