Hello David

Thank you for your question. While this Site deals mainly with how prospective members can become new Masons, I will say we are seeing a large number of men who joined in the past—then became inactive for some reason—and now want to see about rejoining as they watch the Fraternity become more vibrant.

For anyone else reading this, this thread is probably a good place to have that discussion.

In your particular case, I believe you are referring to GRIFFIN LODGE in Louisiana, under the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Louisiana? If that is the case, perhaps a member of a Prince Hall on this Forum could provide an answer. As with membership requirements, most state’s Grand Lodges will have different rules. It may be very different with Prince Hall, so I would hate to give you wrong information. In any event it usually will not be that hard—perhaps paying unpaid dues—and depending on how and when you left, being revoted on.

To get the definitive answer, you will want to contact the PHGL of Louisiana at

Good luck, and let us know how it goes
