with today’s use and wide range of the Internet, it gives those that have a dislike to Freemasonry a wide range of listeners.  So much is written about the fraternity both good and bad, I can see how this can confuse someone.  All I can say is that when you read them, read them with an open mind.  We have been viewed in movies, and documentaries and shows and books many times in a non positive way.  We have been around for hundreds of years and continue to give to the community.  There is much written in the positive side to Freemasonry, to find out what is available in your area, and what new publications have come out I would contact any Grand Lodge, or the Grand Lodge that is in your area to see what they may have.

I agree with this post. There are many sources of excellent, factual information about Masonry. There are many books and internet sites, with the most horrible drivel and slander you can imagine. If you wish to get the truth, I encourage you to contact the Grand lodge in your state of residence. Ask them, how to learn about Masonry. They will steer you to some excellent sources. You can also ask the lodge in your city of residence.

One of the finest sites is http://www.masonicinfo.com  It is a huge site, with much information, it will take you some time, to go through it.

One individual, was in a situation similar to yours. He wanted to learn all there was to know about Masonry, and write a book about what he discovered. He researched Masonry, and was so impressed with what he found, that he decided to petition Freemasonry, and join the Craft.

His name was John Robinson, and the book he wrote was “A Pilgrim’s Path”. You can get it on http://www.amazon.com

I wish you well in your search for truth.

Sadly, the current government in Pakistan, is not supportive of Masonry. The British brought Masonry to many of the parts of the British Empire. Masonry is quite active in India, and in other English-Speaking countries.

Until there is a major political change in Pakistan, I fear that Masonry will have to remain out of your country.

The Internet is a great piece of technology but, like all great things, it has its good and bad sides. The truth about what is correct or wrong on the Internet ultimately resides in the individual and what they believe. There are so many people out there who give their opinion about who we are or what we stand for. Of course there are those who greatly dislike our fraternity and share their views.

If your looking for anything offical, always review sites that claim to be fact and locate the source of information. Hopefully I have not repeated anything that has already been said.

Cheers,

Jacob
