No. It is sometimes said that Freemasonry is a “Society with secrets, not a secret society.” In point of fact, however, any purported Masonic “secrets” were made public several centuries ago in London newspapers, and today can be found in the Library of Congress, on the Internet, and in many books on the subject. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “The great secret of Freemasonry is that there is no secret at all.”
Chris from the UK: The adage “you get out, what you put in” holds true to many parts of life. In Masonry, it is true that many doors open for the Master Mason in good ways. The thought that one should join any fraternal organization for personal gain or to have a financial advantage is not part of Masonry. I have seen the notation that a man might join the Masons to better his lot in life, to enhance his resume and make many connections. These thoughts, while they indeed happen over time for many, should not be the reason to become a member, Friendship, Charitable intent and service and the betterment of mankind must be the driving force for the applicant. For those others, for personal gain as a motive, the application process to become a Mason clarifies this issue and eliminates those that should look elsewhere. Ron Doucette - Moderator
John F. Kennedy warned America about secret societies, that take secret oaths and pledges and answer to no one. He was unfortunately assassinated. Was JFK speaking of the free masons and the illuminati? We know as fact the federal reserve is a private corporation, privately owned and they answer to no one. They control wars, economic markets, and the people and government themselves through debt. Congress knows little about them, they have their meetings behind closed doors and only with the board members. Please explain…
What is this business about a new world order? Do the masons and illuminati and bankers have something to do with that? Why is North America being tricked into a North American union just like the Europeans? Why is the Amero going to be our new currency? More control? Living in a supposed free and open society (The USA), why do we need secret organizations?
Oh and by the way? Why is the sculpture of George Washington depicted as Baphomet (The Goat of Mendes), the pagan God, in the Free Mason temple in Washington D.C.? He is topless…(A presidential sculpture being topless??) His right arm points to the sky while his left arm points to the ground, and he wears a loin cloth. Every single depiction of Baphomet has his right arm pointing to the sky while his left points to the ground. He is topless, and wears a loin cloth. AND a Free Mason created this sculpture of George Washington. Please explain this, and please do not deviate. I want to learn more about Free Masonry and its secret practices…lets just say i’m writing a school paper…
These are just a few questions that I am sure the grand masters should be able to answer truthfully…seeing that “truth” is a free mason virtue.
I have documented my access to this site, and kept a visual and written record. If my message somehow becomes deleted or edited, or my access to this site is banned, I will take that as my questions being silenced by the moderators of this website in order to conceal any truth behind my statements.
With that, have a great day and I look foward to readin your responses.
Those were a lot of questions, Jean Luc. Thanks for taking the time to write.
Other than Truth being a tenant of Freemasonry, (and a virtue of every good Mason) your suppositions are simply incorrect. Most of the answers to your questions can be found in different posts in this forum, however – a perusal should help you find them.
In the meantime, I think I can say with all due respect that John Kennedy would not have been an American President without the sacrifice and work of early American Freemason patriots – and John Kennedy was not speaking of the Masons when he spoke about secret societies.
Freemasonry is not a secret society. Our buildings are marked and our members show emblems on their cars and lapels. It has nothing to do with economic markets, wars, governments, the Federal Reserve, the illuminati, currencies, Baphomet (please), or any new world orders. We are a fraternal organization that gives over $3 million dollars a day to charity – and uses metaphor to teach men how to become better – and yes, perhaps even great men.
I hope you have a chance to experience Freemasonry. You seem like a bright chap. Not sure where you live or where you are from from your registration – but all of the Ambassadors on this Forum provide their true names and locations. None are Star Trek characters. We are here to assist those who would like to join the Fraternity.
We also rarely bar anyone from the site. We do try to keep it on target, however. There are plenty of other sites out there where you can run wild with conspiracy theories. This is not one of them. If you want to learn more about becoming a Freemason, please stay on.
In the meantime, it’s 7pm EDT in New England. The sun is setting and I’m going to put a couple of Portobello mushrooms on the grill, open a bottle of American merlot, and have a little dinner. Controlling the world will have to wait.
I see videos on YouTube about the FreeMasons being a Satanic cult and Illuminatti is there any truth about this?Im a Catholic and have my faith in Jesus I would like to join to make my self into a great man for my wife and baby on the way.
I see videos on YouTube about the FreeMasons being a Satanic cult and Illuminatti is there any truth about this?
Short answer, no. We are not a Satanic cult, nor are we the Illuminati, nor are we secretly behind a plot to put flouride in the nation’s water supply in order to make people more susceptible to the CIA mind control waves beaming down from black helicopters at the behest of the Roswell aliens. Honest.
There is a lot of information about Freemasonry available on the internet, much of it is nonsense. Many people have anti-Masonic agendas, and Freemasonry presents a blank canvas to project all sorts of fears and desires upon.
There are many Catholics in my lodge, and none find anything in Masonry to be in conflict with their faith.
What is “Lady Gaga’s” use of the eye of horus hand sign and her covering one of her eyes for the other to be left seen for a couple seconds in her videos and in interviews? What is the use of the masonic floor and Baphomet in one of her videos. What is with the continuous use of the pyramid hand sign? Why does she like david bowie who follows Aleister Crowley’s teachings? What is with her use of the lightning bolt symbol?
She appears to be a savvy marketer and promoter of herself, with a penchant for pop-culture imagery manufactured to generate conversation. As far as I am aware, she is not a Mason.
Light, I think the major problem with your confusion is that you think that if a symbol means one thing in one place, it must mean the same thing everywhere. Nothing could be further from the truth. First of all, just because someone depicts an eye, doesn’t mean that it means exactly the same as all other eyes. You are talking about the eye of Horus, not to be confused with the all seeing eye, which can be found on the top of the pyramid on the US dollar bill. The other symbols you mentioned as well, they aren’t even all Masonic symbols, and just because you see a symbol somewhere that is similar to a Masonic symbol, it doesn’t make it Masonic.
I’ll give you an example. Have you ever seen someone sign a letter with an “XO”? That is shorthand for kiss and hug, where the X stands for the kiss and the O stands for the hug. Now, suppose we apply your logic to this. That would mean that everytime you see a railroad crossing, which also uses the symbol X, it must mean that they are talking about kissing, or that a movie that is rated X, actually stands for kissing, or on a treasure map, the X spot would actually be the kissing spot.
Obviously this is not the case. In each of those examples the X symbol stands for something different. Quite the same is true with the sybmolism you are referring to.
A “Masonic Floor” so to speak is the same floor my grandmother had in her kitchen when I was a child. Does that make my grandmother a Freemason?
As for Baphomet, well, I’ve been a Mason for a long time now, and the only time I’ve ever heard any mention of whatever Baphomet is, was from non-masons. No mason has ever mentioned Baphomet to me.
I hope I’ve given you good examples of how your interpretation of symbols might be a little one sided, and hope this gives you the opportunity to rethink your hypothesis that Lady Gaga is a Freemason.
In looking at the posts on this forum, I see many so called conspiracy theories have made there way out. In short I agree with Colin, they are none sense. I would like to make a follow-up point on JFK’s speech about secret societies.
I am a Massachusetts Mason and hold JFK and the Kennedy brothers in a very high level of respect. I agree with the explanation that JFK was not referring to the Masons as we are not a secret society. I also share JFK’s views on secret societies. I find it shocking and rather disappointing when conspiracy theorist continue to allege a masonic involvement in the assassination of JFK. I would like to note that, that allegation has not been made in this thread, I bring it into the conversation because, it is a common conspiracy theorist accusation made against our fraternity.
What makes a good conspiracy theory. Well you need several things:
1) A good story based on a true event
2) Facts or if need be, made up facts
3) Spin them together to create the reality or outcome you agree with and then:
call it fact or even truth.
The sad reality is this happens all the time and the internet is a good tool to spread these theories. Unfortunately for masons, we are far to often blamed for things we have nothing to do with and because, we were so silent for so long, people accepted that silence as guilt.
I will say this though, I am glad to those who pose those questions and encourage you to do so more. Keep this in mine though, when you watch YouTUBE our read other forums and blogs; always consider your source. Keep the questions going. Have a great day.
Admin right on the spot with the Benjamin Franklin quote.
Plus everyone wishes to join but only the best can the ones seem worthy.
Or are masons different in that subject?
I too have been bombarded by all kinds of resources that say this and that about masonry. But I believe they are nothing but truly smart people where only the worthy are allowed in to the circle. That`s why I want to be a mason, to find out if I have the right grasp on reality if I am worthy to be called a mason.

If shes not a Freemason then what is she?
Looks like 3 out of 4 of those videos are no longer available.
As an art major going for graphic and design I am very interested in the depiction and use of symbology in all spheres of life. Symbols and imagery were an early form of communication for mankind. Before there was written language man used paintings utilizing different shapes in order to create a story of the events that surrounded their lives. Cave paintings are a great example of this. They give a picture of what it was like as a caveman…hunting buffalo, other animals, wars between clans etc. Over time as man became more aware of his surroundings and of the natural events that happened in the world such as floods, thunderstorms, hurricanes and earthquakes there was a need to understand what these events were and one such explanation was that there had to be some sort of external, unseen force that controlled these events and such deities were formed (not trying to invalidate religion here). The ideas of these deities were often expressed through artistic means using imagery and symbology. Pantheons were developed to explain the different forces of nature. As mankind started to use written language, art and symbology pretty much conjoined to convey even more complex stories and communication of ideas, thoughts and artistic expression. Symbology has evolved from something simplistic to whole complex systems that are still used today. Symbology and art are pretty mutualistic, there is no area where art and symbology are not involved. Graphic Arts utilizes the psychology of symbology and art in that they use colors, shapes, and other designs in order to make the subject appealing to the viewer.
I can go on with this but a) I don’t want to have a whole wall of text and b) I have to get to bed.
Also, this is just my insight, I may be wrong about the whole history but this is just stuff I know from things that I have gleaned here and there. Basically, the whole point is that symbology is just a form of communication but like with all forms of art, its’ interepretations are subjective and one will get what they will out of it.

My point exactly. The same symbol can mean different things to different people. To assume that one symbol means the same thing everywhere is just silly, but people seem to use that logic when “researching” the Masons.
Washington “shirtless with his hand pointing in the air ” statue has nothing to do with Freemasonry nor baphomet . This statue was commisioned for the centennial of George Washington’s birth . It was sculpted by Horatio Greenough and was modeled from the discriptions of the great statue of Zeus at Olympia . He has one arm upraised with his index finger pointing to the heavens and a sword in it’s sheath in the other arm with the hilt pointing forward which is to symbolize that he was giving the power to the people at the end of the Revolutionary War . Nothing about it has anything to do with baphomet . Anything about baphomet in Freemasonry only lives in the minds of those who see comnspiracies around every corner .
