Are you suggesting that you were once a member of a Traditional (all male lodge)
and got “kicked our” for being a female?
This is very highly unlikely.
Now if you are telling us you were once a member of a Female-mason lodge or a Co-mason lodge
and were kick out of there that is a different thing.
In that case Mike’s answer still stands go back to your lodge and fix the thing that got you kicked out.
NOTE: This particular site is for “Traditional” masons under the Grand Lodge of Mass. and can not help you much if you were a female or co-mason
Does this actually mean that you were lying when you said you are an ex-Freemason?
Mike
I am NOt lying, I was a female in the brotherhood.
I was the only female allowed in there, and I wasn’t kicked out
for being a female, I was kicked our for doing something else that
I would rather not discuess here. It would be inappropriate, but
I would like to know if you guys know any other brotherhood that would sneak me
back into it?

Hi, i’ve been looking into freemasonry, and I wondered if all freemason lodges practise the same ``Basic`` philosophies of life and truth? I live in Moncton Canada and i`m not quite sure how to approach the lodge with my interest. I don`t know any of the members.
One more question if i may. Does the betterment of others come before the betterment of self. Can one seek the betterment of self in order to help others as a path to freemasonry
I was wondering about Co-Freemasonry myself. I am female and I am looking to get into the Eastern Star as I have Masonic ties on my stepdad’s side of the family (Though I was not legally adopted by my stepfather.)I am wondering if there will come a time that Freemasonry as a whole will either become co-ed or will recognize Co-Masonry. I would like your opinions and thoughts on this matter.
Elm…. not trying to be a jerk or anything but Freemasonry is a fraternal organization….no offense to women but a fraternity is for men… a sorority is for women….. you will not find many in masonry in support of co-masonry. I could be wrong but having a stepdad as a mason could get you into the Eastern Star….

Nah… you’re not being a jerk… I understand that it is a fraternity and that a fraternity is defined as an organization of men. Glad that there is the Eastern Star and that they probably do things differently. I just know that there are probably females on this forum that gripe about the “sexism” but I’m not like that at all. I’m doing research on the fraternity and it is interesting but, I understand that it started as a fraternity and more than likely will stay that way. Co-Masonry is another animal and it is trying to establish itself but I know it is more likely not recognized as “regular” by traditional Freemasonry and probably will never be.
Sorry if I sound stupid and ignorant there, I’m not trying to be, I just want to understand Freemasonry as it is my main interest right now :)Not to mention it is 3:30am and I am starting to wind down.
I also have the Prince Hall Masons here in Grand Rapids looking into my eligibility. The Secretary has told me to contact him in early October as they are busy with some projects right now.
What’s up everyone? My name is Shobha. I am from India.
I am new to the forum and just wanted to say hi.. I hope I posted this in the right section on your forum…
Nice to have you visit us. I just returned from a two week trip to India. I had hoped to attend a lodge meeting while I was there, but circumstances didn’t allow it. I want to go back to India, and when I do I will make a meeting.
If you were indeed a part of a Masonic Lodge, then I would say that it is a safe bet that you were part of an irregular Lodge. An irregular Lodge is a Lodge that is not recognized as being affiliated with the United Grand Lodge of England or a Grand Lodge that was chartered by the United Grand Lodge of England.
In Freemasonry, there are certain rules that must be followed for Lodges to be recognized by other Lodges as Regular. These rules are called Landmarks. One of the Landmarks of Freemasonry is that you must be a male. In an irregular Lodge, this probably would not be an issue because these Lodges don’t seek recognition.
Irregular Lodges are shady because they advertise themselves as being Masonic when in reality they are not. You may very well have gone through a ritual that you may consider Masonic, but that ritual is not “official” or sanctioned by a “proper” Masonic authority such as the UGLE or a Grand Lodge. I belong to a Lodge under the Right Worshipful Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania and I can tell you for certain that there is absolutely no way that you would be able to get past the outer door on the night of a Stated Meeting unless we were closed or having a public ceremony such as the awarding of 25 or 50 year service emblems.
As much as I hate to tell you this 911, I think you’ve been had by some men who pretended to be Freemasons, for any Lodge that would allow a woman to enter during an Open Lodge would more likely than not have their Charter pulled and would in all likelihood cease to exist.
As for co-Masonry, I don’t really see it happening. Anyone who has been a Candidate at one point in time and received the Symbolic Degrees of the Blue Lodge will understand why it is not a prudent idea for women to be Candidates.
I don’t want to come across as being sexist because I certainly am not. I believe that women would benefit from the lessons of the Blue Lodge every bit as much as men do. Unfortunately, the rules are the rules and we must abide by them. That being said, if you want to be a part of the Masonic family I would advise that you join the Order of the Eastern Star or Amaranth if you are eligible as both are recognized by Grand Lodges throughout the United States.
As the Forum Administrator I wanted to welcome you to the Forum and thank you for your participation. Your answers so far seem astute and well researched.
I did want to take this opportunity to remind everyone who is posting here to make sure to read the date of the posting before answering a question. This can be easy to overlook, as our threads often move into different directions over time, so it’s important to read the questions and the replies and make sure you’re answering a recent question.
This is especially important because the Forum brings the most recent posts and replies to the top.
In this case, for example, you are responding to 911’s question which was posted over a year ago—I don’t think that person has been back on since.
We have no issues with resurrecting old posts—just want to keep the answers relevant to where the thread is going.
Yeah that does tend to get overlooked. I tend not to look at dates myself and just post. As for 911’s post in itself, I wonder if she was part of a Co-mason lodge like Le Droit Humain or something. I know that there have been some cases of “adoptive Freemasons” where women are adopted into a lodge though from my understanding that is quite rare.
Have a few quick questions here. I have made contact with a member of my local lodge expressing a interest to join. After a few times of speaking with him, he said that he would sponsor me with my petition. I haven’t asked these questions to him because we live in a small town and I would hate this to become between us if it didn’t work out so here we go?
1. Does it matter what political party I belong to?
2. How much influence/involvement does being a Mason have on politics?
3. This is the question that I feel would cause the most problems, I have a very good friend that I have known for 30 years, we have talked about Freemasons alot, but he doesn’t feel that he can join because of him being an African American? Is this true?
Quite simply…politics, religion, and race do not enter into the decision for admittance into a lodge.
Lodges have members who are black, white, hispanic, Jewish, Catholic, Muslim, Democrat, Republican, red flag waving Communists, you name it. Masonry is blind to these differences.
So no, your political party doesn’t matter, and no, your African American friend is more than welcome to join.
