Can you tell me a bit about wearing a “Blue Lodge Ring”?  Is it appropriate for an EA to wear?

Can you recommend a reliable jeweler specializing in these rings?

Thank you,

WK

Although you are a MASON, as soon as you take your EA oath, you should not wear “bling” identifying yourself as a Master Mason, until you have completed the Master Mason degree. I suggest that you check with your lodge secretary, and inquire what the policy is in your Grand Lodge.

Most Master Masons choose to identify themselves, either with a ring, a belt buckle, lapel pin, baseball cap, or other such identification. Many states have official Masonic vehicle license plates.

I live in Afghanistan, and I wear a stainless-steel ring here. I have a 14k gold ring back home for everyday wear, and my Grandfather’s heirloom diamond ring, for special occasions.

There are many reputable jewelers, which sell Masonic rings. One of my favorite is

http://www.freemasonstore.com

There are some really good rings for sale on e-bay. You can also check the pawn shops in your local area, for a good “everyday” ring.

When I became a Master Mason I purchased my ring from Gordon Spurlock because the cost fit my budget.  I have been amazed at the durability of his product.  I work in very harsh enviroments at times and have never taken my ring off.  It shows almost no scratches and cleans up with baking soda.  He calls them “The Working Mans Ring”.

I’ll second any recommendation for Bro. Spurlock’s rings.  I have one of his rings (MM 004) and love it.

Of course you can always consider a flip ring.  I have found many practical uses.

Practical uses for your Masonic flip ring.

- It is where to keep your extra Underdog super energy pill.
- It is part of a set of Wonder Twin power rings. The rings flip to the S&C when they are touched together.
- You punch an Anti-Mason and you don’t want to leave a mark to avoid conspiracy theories.
- It is where you keep your cyanide pill in case your are captured by a bunch of Anti’s.
- It just looks like it would start a conspiracy thread.
- One word…Gadget.
- It was blank on both sides and it was anticlimactic when turned over.
- You can spin it and take bets if it lands on or off.
- With the glasses it helps hide your true identity of Clark Kent.
- It helps when you want to pick up a lot of Anti chicks.
- The Pope has one just like it.
- It’s useful when deep undercover trying to infiltrate an Odd Fellows lodge.
- My name? Bond…James Bond
- It hides the key from Ian to the treasure room below the streets of New York

Nice one…but it won’t get you the pancake breakfast for free!

Just an Odd Fellow checking in. I ran across this site as well:

http://www.unitemshop.eu/shop/page/1?shop_param=

You’ll have to translate it from German, but they have some nice rings. I bought an OF ring that was really nice.

LOL….  This cracked me up!  :-)

Regarding the last point in the quote…  I like the subtle ring that the FBI agent (actor Harvey Keitel) was wearing in “National Treasure”.  He had a nice subtle pinky ring on his right hand, when the camera zoomed in on it.  Remember that scene?

Anyway, this is the ring that I am seriously considering:

Also…  Has anyone noticed that JemsbyJEM and Gordon’s Masonic Rings are the same rings, same order numbers, almost the same website?  Are they both in business together making Masonic rings?

Hey Butch,

I recently ordered a ring from Jems by Jem. Brother John of Jems by Jem and brother Gordon are friends and help each other out. Below is from a reply to an email I had sent to Gordon asking about this.

John and I have been friends for a long time he helps me and I help him.

I ended up going with MM001.

Hello brothers…

I ordered this ring yesterday afternoon, after meeting with my mentor at the lodge.  I showed him this printout from JemsByJEM and asked for his opinion.  He knows members who have rings from JemsByJEM and also from Gordon Spurlock, and thinks they are really nice.  The ring I ordered, being stainless steel with a bronze Square & Compass symbol on top is indestructible, and is known as a “working man’s ring”.
http://store.jemsbyjem.com/newhiroscbrd.html

I had originally emailed Brother John Morrow about a ring with the silver, gold, and blue background enamel finish on it (i.e. Rings: MM077 http://store.jemsbyjem.com/mm077.html and MM067 http://store.jemsbyjem.com/cobl.html ).  He called me on the phone and said that these rings are very nice, and very rugged. But after time, the enamel finish might chip/flake when doing working man stuff (cutting wood, changing the oil in your truck, laying a cement patio, etc…).  MM077 and MM067 are more meant as dress rings and not for everyday wear.  Glad I found that out!
