Thanks for your questions. First, Masonry is not a charitable organization. There are over 100 (one hundred) organizations, affiliated with Masonry, which contribute over $2.6 million dollars a day to various charitable and humanitarian causes. Once you are a Mason, you may wish to participate in one of these groups.

If you choose to petition Masonry, you will have to pay an intiation fee. And you will have to pay dues, every year that you are a Mason. Masonry is not a rich man’s organization, the dues and fees are quite reasonable, and have not kept up with the cost of living. All of the dues and fees for your lodge, will be explained to you. If meeting this financial obligation, is a hardship to you, then you should withdraw your application.

There are lodges all over Tennessee, including Clarksville. (I am from Bowling Green, KY). Here is one:

And here is the Grand Lodge of Tennessee:

If your interest in Masonry is sincere, or if you just need to find out more information, please feel free to contact the Grand Lodge of Tennessee, and the lodge in Clarksville.

You may also PM me, anytime.

Did you mean “gigolo”?  Haven’t heard that word used outside of a high school classroom or David Lee Roth song in years.

This is a word I often hear used by high school students, and seldom from adults (who would be more familiar with the correct spelling) I’m also a little suprised to hear the term used outside of my classroom because that’s not how “gigolos” refer to themselves.  Usually it’s just kids that have repopularized this term.  Sorry if I’m wrong, but I deal with younger students every day and I know how they talk…

Do you mind if I ask how old you are?  If you are sincerely interested in Masonry, great, we’re here to help.

Juggalo --

Thanks for your interest.

I guess I’m assuming you’re using the word Juggalo in the Hip Hop sense—I see no problems with that and Freemasonry. Our membership are followers of every type of music and cultural taste, and your tastes in that direction are of no concern to us.

I applaud your interest in trying to do good works—you will have many opportunities in Freemasonry.

I should tell you that many Freemason lodges tend to be a bit more formal than what may be your ordinary dress. Coat and tie are usually appropriate in most Massachusetts Lodges, for example, as officers wear tuxedos. Many of our younger members will wear a coat with a black “t” under—I find that entirely appropriate.

Happy to answer any other questions.

Regards,
