I have been a mason for a quarter of a century, and I have met masons all over the world. I have never seen a man with a masonic tattoo. I cannot imagine any lodge having a policy with respect to body art. I suggest that you check with the Grand Lodge in your state of residence.

A quick search on the internet will turn up quite a bit of information about Masonic tattoos, including an entire site devoted to the subject. I have not heard, and I would be very surprised, if a Grand Lodge has formally addressed the subject. Lodges and Grand Lodge have absolutely no say in the decisions a member makes concerning his personal life.

To Mr. Pedro Gonzalez:
You are giving a great piece of advice, Pedro. In several States in the USA, I have learned that a man can not have a recent tattoo and be allowed to give Blood Donations. As many Masons know, we are the nation’s largest Group Donor of blood to the needs of the nation. The generous hearts that assist to organize and donate blood for those needs and the desires of Masons to give back to the community is just another reason that its not the external marks visible on someone’s arm but in the heart, So thank you for your supporting advice. Regarding blood donation, I have been told in the past that you must wait a full year after a getting a tattoo or piercing before they will accept your blood donation.
