Hello,

I wanna join the Grand Lodge of Greece but as far as i know Grand Lodge of England and France withdrew their recognition from them for over a decade. Is it a serious matter and how important is for me to be participated to an ‘unrecognized’ lodge? Should you suggest me to join?

Many thanks

There are many “masonic” organizations, that are not recognized by the Mother Grand Lodge in England.  In France, there are at least five (5) Grand Lodges and Grand Orients. I suggest that you confirm that your prospective lodge, is recognized by the Mother Grand Lodge in England, prior to petitioning.

The Grand Lodge of Greece, A.F. & A.M., 10 Acharnon St. Athens, is recognized by the United Grand Lodge of England (there are multiple “Grand Lodges” in England, as well.  Telephone 30210-8229950, or email for more information.

Good luck.

Thank you vmuch for your replies.

Mr Robert you make me search for further info on the net and so please allow me to provide just two references

- The section ‘Greece 1993’ addresses briefly the reasons why NGLoG had lost recognition from UGLoE

http://www.freemasons-freemasonry.com/masonic_foreign_recognitions.html

- The last paragraph states the current situation which is the restoration of the recognition

The NGLoG (which I assume is the National Grand Lodge of Greece) is not the same thing as the Grand Lodge of Greece.  Contact the Grand Lodge I referred you to and they will confirm that they are in amenity with the United Grand Lodge of England.
