Hello,
I am considering becoming a freemason. As from my investigations I have been impressed by the american lodges. Even if Freemasonry is the same around the world. I look for an American Lodge to petition for. How can I find one?

First, congratulations on your decision. Once you decide to become a Mason, the rest is procedural.  I live in Iraq, and I have attended lodges in four countries. There are many American lodges operating in foreign countries, and there are local lodges as well. I once attended a German-speaking lodge in Paris, France. Freemasonry is the same all over the world. That is one of the most appealing aspects of the Fraternity to me, because of my international work, I can always locate a group of like-minded individuals, whether I am on a mountaintop in Afghanistan, or on the Champs-elysees.

Please send me your contact information (PM or send it directly to ), and I will help you locate a lodge near your residence. Then I can assist you in the petitioning (application) process. Please feel free to post any questions about Masonry, or the petitioning process here.

Here is an excellent “capsule description” of Masonry:
