Good Evening Brethren

I am a newly initiated EA into craft Freemasonry in the UK and wish to progress my education and understanding at this my 1st degree on my journey.

Can anyone recommend any books or online reading which will be of benefit? PM’s welcome.

Hi Ian,
Greetings from London.

As a newly made EA you need to concentrate on the Degree that you have just witnessed. As a relatively new Lodge 8942 is likely to work the Emulation version of the Ceremonies and you should ask your Proposer or the Lodge Mentor if they have copies of the First Degree-only (rather than the card with the Qs) booklet for you to study. The booklet contains the Ceremony of Initiation that you have just gone through AND the Lectures of the degree that explains most of it.

You should have been given a copy of Guidance for Members of the Craft to read as well which introduces you to some of the info (rules etc) that you should know about as an English Freemason.

You might also want to join one of the English discussion Forums, the address of the best one is in my sig file :)

Ian; if you didn’t get this, then ask your secretary for it; it comes with (and is classed as part of) the Book of Constitutions (which you should have been presented with)

Welcome brother,
As you are an English mason i thought you should know about UGLE’s new Solomon system which gives you a lot of explanations about your experience in the first degree. Although as a disclaimer always ask questions to the mentor of the lodge as they should always be your first point of reference.

Thank you Brother

I an aware of Solomon and have registered however I have not received any login details just yet but I am aware from the various lodge communications that have been forthcoming that they are doing their best to get this information to users as so as possible.

Also the news of the Solomon site literally came to light in the week that followed my original listing to this forum

Hi Ian,
A bit worried that you’ve had a delay I signed up to Solomon this morning and go tmy confirmation seconds later. Did you actually create your account as it is a DIY system followed by a confirmation email?

No email received. Searched all mail including spam so this might explain lack of progress. Thanks for your insight into the signup process and I will approach the site to see if they can resend the email or look into what has happened as it was the 11th December when I completed the online registration
