I have been associating with bogus masons for months now
Thank God I did my research!!! The Hiram grand lodge of NY is a fake!!!!!
This is my question
If someone joins A bogus clandestine lodge, is he doomed to frolic in ignorance forever or is there hope for him to join a REAL lodge? My mentor is in the Hiram lodge. He said he joined with no prior knowledge of “clandestine masonry”. He says he would love to join an authentic Prince Halll lodge but he says it’s too late. IS THIS TRUE???

First off, we hear you. Easy…

Next, which Hiram Lodge - specifically - are you talking about? Before we go further, it would be a good idea to confirm its status.

Lastly, many if not most grand lodges can handle a man who has stumbled into the wrong crowd.

Appearntly john g jones affiliated lodges are not legit since jones was not in good standing
These lodges are very old but not recognized
They seem to have their own shrine as I can’t find anything about it besides through the one website

http://www.haramtemple1.org

All seems fishy

Apparently NYC is flooded with bogus. Lodges

Looks about as legit as a $10 Rolex…

OK, mistakes happen. I would suggest that you go to a lodge you find on either of these websites: https://nymasons.org/2016/ or http://www.princehallny.org/ and explain your situation. You acted in good faith and want to rectify your mistake. I myself don’t see a problem. Good luck.

To join a regular and recognized lodge, you first have to quit the unrecognized/clandestine one.
Then you would petition the new lodge for membership and procede through the degrees as if you had never done so before.

It is not true, a clandestine Mason can be “healed” especially if he joined a clandestine body out of ignorance. Grand Lodges have policies and procedures for this. It may involve signing a document denouncing the clandestine body.

This is a discussion that should be had through the Secretary of a lodge who can contact his Grand Secretary and receive instructions on how to proceed.

Good luck.

The part you said “is not true” is true UNLESS the Grand Master of your jurisdiction “heals” your masonic membership. But that is a big IF. The Grand master does not have to heal anyone. It is at his discretion. And in some jurisdictions he may not have that particular authority.

Just keep in mind when answering that EVERYTHING is jurisdictional. And when presenting answers we need to try to include all possibilities if we can.

Luckily I haven’t taken any steps to join! Now the trouble is when I reach out to the authentic bodies, they say I have to know somebody already a member. So now I dont know what to do. Any advice would be great

That is why we tell you to go to a lodge and introduce yourself.
You get to know them and they you.
Then you can ask for a petition if you so choose.

Most Grand Lodges and many Lodges will take the time to get to know someone who earnestly wishes to join a Lodge! You just need to take the first step and ask about joining.

I didnt know anyone.

I had to go show up at the lodge and make my interest known to bunch of strangers.

I had to “hang around” for six months. Attend open events like officer installation and mostly just visit at pre lodge dinners every month.

Slowly strangers become friends and friends become Fraternal Brothers.

I am now on my second degree.
