Final Update:  It has been an amazing journey to say the least.  I just wanted to let everyone know that last night I gave my 3rd degree exemplification and signed the by laws of the lodge.  I am now officially a member of the lodge.  I am so happy and excited to be a member of such a great lodge.  Thanks to everyone for all of your help and kindness along the way.  You have all been great!  Thanks again!

Thanks Zoffy for your kindness and nice words.  Yeah I have been excited about Masonry for a long time.  The journey up to this point has been a creation of patience, thought and excitement.  I just look forward to the time I get to spend apart of such an amazing lodge!

Eric,

As you now realize, your journey has just begun. You are going to be amazed what the Brotherhood will be able to accomplish with the help of excited Brothers such as yourself. It’s not about you anymore, it’s about Us & Them, and when you give of yourself, the rewards are immeasurable. Congratulations on your fine work up to this point, and I look forward to hearing about your Lodges Fraternal work in the future. Happy trails.

Eric, knowing what an eager and intelligent man you are, I doubt that your journey has ended. I strongly recommend that you pursue your path into the York Rite and Scottish Rite when you are comfortable in Blue Lodge and when your time and resources permit. There are veiled but unmistakable indications in the FC and MM degrees which tell us that there is more to Freemasonry than is contained in the “first” three degrees.

The Chapter and Council will greatly enlarge the experiences you have already enjoyed. The advantage of the York Rite is that it can be taken in pieces; you don’t have to go through the whole gamut at one time, as you do in the SR, although the Chapter and Council are so closely interconnected that they should be done close together. In fact, in VA and WV, they have to be—the Council is a part of the Chapter there. The Commandery can wait.

The SR is quite different, and enlarges your Masonic experience on a more global scale. For your personal enlargement and entertainment, the Shrine is unparalleled, besides the fact that they support what I consider to be the world’s greatest charity.

There is a vast fund of instruction and enrichment out there, ready for you to take advantage of it, and there is a great number of brothers whom you haven’t met yet who can always use a new brother to join them, if only to increase their numbers at meetings from time to time, better yet to assist in their work, if you are inclined to do so.

If/when you do step forward, please be sure to continue this saga and let us know what’s happening and your reactions.

My congratulations and sincere best wishes for your future.

REYoung thank you so much for your nice words, encouragements and compliments.  I really sincerely appreciate it very much.  That is one of the other reasons I decided to become a Mason, the fellow brothers are so nice and helpful.

If/When I decide to pursue YR or SR I will let you know.  I think I am going to spend a few years in my blue lodge first and then check out the other appendant bodies.

Thanks again for everything and your help.  Take care and we will talk soon!

Brother Young is right. I’ll be going into the Scottish Rite in August in search of further light.

Thanks Eric,

I’m looking forward to it. So’s my wife, because it’ll get me out of the house one more night a month! But all kidding aside, I’m looking forward to it :-) .

Well everyone, my first full season of Masonry has come to a close.  The lodge goes dark July and August and re-opens in September.  I have to say it has been an AMAZING experience and journey so far.  I cannot wait until the lodge re-opens in September and I can be around my lodge Brothers again that I respect so much!  It truly is a great group of Brothers.  Thanks again to everyone on this board who has been instrumental in my Masonic success thus far.

There may be other lodges in your area, that meet in the summertime. There may be a “square and compasses” club, for informal fellowship. S&C clubs are very popular in New Hampshire, when I lived in NH, back in 1982, that was my first introduction to the clubs.

You may consider joining one or more of the appendant/concordant bodies, and explore the other aspects of Freemasonry, outside of the Craft lodge. You might want to start a Saturday morning breakfast club, at a local diner. If you contact Aleppo Shrine, they would be more than glad to discuss the Shrine with you.

Welcome aboard!
