Brother David,
Thank you for sharing your story. Welcome to the Craft and congratulations on your EA degree. I look forward to hearing how you enjoy your FC and MM degrees. All the best.
Thank you Eric. We just had another E.A. Degree Ceremony on Monday 1/16/2012. It was pretty special because it was the first time I got to witness the Degree from another perspective. I was also allowed to be a conductor for my one of my best friends who is also now a member. Things are moving along now. We aren’t receiving any more members until next year and we’re scheduled for our F.C. Degree next month. I’ll keep ya’s updated my friends. Later Brothers.
I did exremely well on my “class” regarding the information I need to obtain in order to get “passed” to an F.C. I’m pretty proud of myself. Hard work pays off!

Excellent. Indeed, hard work does pay off. Are you still coming over to St George’s tomorrow evening?
Yes I am. What were the hours again? Wasn’t dinner at 6:00 p.m. and the ceremony at 7:30? I know I have it somewhere just not on hand at the moment. Another thing is if you can take a look on my Facebook when you have a chance, I think I have a very old Scottish Rite peice of clothing that a very good friend of mine is in posession of. I just wanted to get your opinion on it. There are more pics of other Masonic paraphanalia they just haven’t been sent to me yet. It kind of looks like a Scottish Bag Pipe Kilt. Maybe you could help me out. Thanks Paul, Dave.
Bro. David,
It is my understanding that once you are a
Master Mason you may petition to join
either the Scotish or York Rites right away.
However, it is also my opinion that you should enjoy
the brotherhood and ritual of your own lodge
for awhile before immediately joining one of the
other bodies. You will really appreciate all aspects
that way.
After one becomes a Master Mason, how long does he have to wait until he can petition for Scottish/York Rites? Just curious
In theory you could petition right after you are raised. Most of the “older” guys will suggest you wait at least 1 year and to become active and involved in Blue Lodge first, before joining any of the other bodies.
Sorry Brother Eric, our responses crossed somewhere in the ether….and because I got called away in the midst of making my reply and didn’t see yours.
