kid #3 is on the way. I thought I’d give her a name that tied in to free masonry.  Several sites i looked into mentioned that louveteu was the daughter of a mason. However it sounds to French and “loov toe” does not sound very well when going down a roster in school.  Any ideas? Other wise I’m going with Katelynn.

Dude, there is PLENTY to choose from!

Virginia - reminiscent of the virgin weeping
Bathsheba - Wife of King David and mother of Solomon
Acacia
Faith or Fides
Lily - from its purity and the remote situations in which it grows
Moriah - hill where the temple was built
Gloria - In old Masonic lectures, the blazing star was a symbol of Glory

for starters

“Hiram”, is a good masonically-affiliated name. It is a bit old-fashioned, though. “Tyler”, is dandy.

That’s all well and good, Charlie, but perhaps you should reread brother Jason’s post more closely.  I don’t think HIram and Tyler would do.

Yea, people might think i kid napping some kid at school when i holler for a boy and i pick up a girl. I’d have 40 parents dog piling on me.
Good names though. I’ll keep those in mind for “next time” or next pet. We seem to have the 5th and 6th cats around here rotate ever 2-3 years.

Jason,

To start with, there are the four females who represent the Cardinal Virtues: Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence and Justice. Nos. 1, 2, and 4 would be highly unusual, but I happen to know a woman named Prudence; it’s an old fashioned name, but not really rare, like Chastity.

You might also consider the 5 women whom the five points of the Eastern Star represent:
Ada - the daughter of Jephthah
Ruth - the wife of Boaz
Esther - the queen who saved the Jews in Persia from massacre
Martha - the sister of Lazarus (who is represented by a
broken pillar, which is also a symbol of Hiram Abif)
Electa - the Elect Lady, known by St. Paul

And, by the way, louveteau (a masculine gender word) is the French for Lewis, which is the word for the son of a Mason, and would be the perfect name if you were expecting a boy. Maybe next time.

This is an interesting thread.  My wife and I are planning baby #7 and we lightly discussed chosing a name taken from a Masonic historical figure.  This does have it’s drawbacks however.  If we have a girl, naming her Georgia Washington Lane might not workout as well as we’d like.  There’s always Ester, Ruth, etc.  Then again, how many times have we all heard of a boy or girl named Mason?

For the record…we decided not to look for a name inspired by Masonry.  We’re going with naming him or her after family members.
