Hello,

I am a new member to this site/forum, and was wondering if I could be guided in the right direction for my desire to become a Freemason and learn it’s craft.  The major roadblock for me was wondering if the Freemason’s accept minority members(me being bi racial).  This alone situation has deterred me from contacting, until now. Any direction and insight will be greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Thank you in advance
Todd

Dear perspective candidate: Thank you for putting the thought into this question, as I am sure many visitors to this question need clarity. Well, a man is a man.
Unless there are “martians’ amongst us in the form of “man”, Bi-racial has NO distinction. The beauty of this craft is this important tenet of: we all stand under a supreme being, equal to one another. Race, color, and life status have no claim in Masonry. Best regards, Ron Doucette- Moderator

Friend Todd, Your desire to investigate Masonry is truly a laudable one. Masonry is a non-denominational, non-sectarian, non-racial, inter-faith organization, which accepts all true and good men, regardless of their religious faith or ethnicity.  All masons must believe in a supreme being, and God has flowers of many different colors in His garden.

The basic qualifications for Masonic membership are:

Male
Mature of Age (18 some states, 21 most states)
Belief in a Supreme Being (NO atheists may apply)
Some states have a residency requirement, for example, California requires the applicant to reside in California for 12 months, prior to petitioning.

Please send me a PM, if you desire to petition (apply for) masonry. I will be glad to help you locate a lodge in your neighborhood, and assist you in the process.
