I am originally from Switzerland but was transferred to Montreal by my employer, where I am going to stay for at least two more years . Considering becoming a Freemason, would you recommend me to find a lodge near Montreal or back in Switzerland? I reckon the process of application takes some time and patience.

I suggest that you petition (apply) to a lodge in Montreal. The process will take some months, between your initial application, and the completion of the degree work. Once you transfer back to Switzerland, you can transfer membership to a lodge in Switzerland.
